If you haven’t noticed or don’t look at my other blog TeeCraze there is an awesome site on the rise. Tilteed is a design competition and curated shop which offers incredible prices on pre-orders and limited edition t-shirts. Designs are available at $12 for 3 days. After that they are either retired as in the Tilteed Limited line or available in the shop for $18.

The designs are from some of the best artists around like Wotto, TheInfinityLoop, C86, Greg Abbott and more. Plenty of amazing artists you may not be aware of are also in the mix. With a wide variety of styles available there is always something great being offered. There’s also an active community to get involved with and design submissions you can vote on. Be sure to check out Tilteed

Patrick was really cool for shooting over a couple of shirts for me and the lady. Printed on American Apparel they are quality screen printed and an exceptional value. Here’s “Jackalope” by Recycledwax.

Impact Threads is a newly launched site which operates on a community based platform. With their experience in the industry and a fresh outlook they have a promising future and offer many benefits to artists and customers alike. Braden was kind enough to give us an overview of their business and answer some pertinent questions on what Impact Threads is all about and where they are headed.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide my readers a little insight into what you’re doing. What’s the concept behind Impact Threads and how did you get involved in the t-shirt industry?

Impact Threads is an ongoing t-shirt design competition. Designers can submit their work which will be voted on by the community for two weeks. We pick winners every two weeks and sell the shirts directly from the site. Our parent company, Say What Screen Printing has been in business for over ten years. We’ve always wanted to have a different type of e-commerce site and really loved the concept behind Impact Threads. We’re fortunate to have an in-house art department, shipping and receiving, accounting and of course our production team.

What design types are you looking for and what are the prizes you are offering?

We’re open to any type of design, the community is really going to take the site in whatever direction they choose. We’re offering a lot of different printing styles so we hope that we see some really unique designs and that the community votes accordingly. As far as prizes go, we offer $2,000 to the 1st place winner, $3 per shirt sold to 2nd place, $2 per shirt for 3rd place and $1 for 4th place. We also donate $500 to our charity of the month in the name of the winning artists that month.

What can I expect from you as an artist?

Well the first thing you can expect is prompt payment. We’ve been in business for over ten years and don’t have the cash flow issues that most start-ups do. Secondly, we’re completely driven by our artists because without them there simply is no site, so we’re going to do everything we can to make their lives easier. Obviously we want to help promote them as much as they’re helping to promote us.

How will Impact Threads stand out from other competition sites?

When we began creating the site we looked at our competition and found out what they did well and where people thought they could do better. The two biggest draws for people were having a lot of freedom in their printing options and community oriented. We offer artists a ton of different printing styles and they can use up to ten colors. As for community, we not only have forums on the site but we’re getting involved in actual communities with our charity of the month program. For June we’re supporting Nashville Rising which is a charity that is helping those recently affected in the Nashville floods. Winning artists not only get cash but they’re making a large impact on helping communities and individuals who are in desperate need right now.

What are the goals of Impact Threads for the future?

We want to make a name for ourselves in this industry and be recognized as a top site for designers. We’ve spent a lot of time with our team of programmers to get the site up and running and we’re really happy with the results. The most obvious goal now is to start selling t-shirts and get some amazing submissions. As we continue to grow we’re going to be adding quite a few really cool features to the site.

Braden, thanks so much, it looks like you are off to a great start.

Be sure to check out Impact Threads and the amazing designs they have to offer. Be sure to get involved in their community, submit your designs and take part in deciding on what they print.

Today’s mail brings an awesome shirt I ordered from Psycho Reindeer . This site offers maybe the best value of all the online t-shirt shops. Prices are in the $12-14 range which includes shipping and tax. The designs are printed on Alstyle shirts that are made of super soft ringspun cotton. Great printing of some great designs make Psycho Reindeer the teerater first choice in bang for your bucks. I wish they would come out with more new items more often but it’s always worth the wait

Sharp Shirter was founded in 2004. It’s founder, Dan Lachman would spend many an afternoon submitting ideas to t-shirt sites in hopes of getting them to send him a tee or two for his efforts. Dan was oblivious to this fact that his ideas needed to be better. Rather than hunker down and admit defeat, Dan decided that he could do it himself. There was just one problem: He couldn’t draw so used Craigslist to hook up with his first designer.

Being an aspiring film major and a Discovery Channel lover, Dan began to hone his tee imagination. Dan turned his attention to animals and fantasy. He found some additional designers to work with and launched sharpshirter.com in 2006, and it’s been a snowballing ever since. What initially started as a couple of choices for men’s tees has now become a range of choices for men’s and women’s tees, dresses, hoodies, laptop skins and ipod skins.

Just got an email from Emil over at TenBills.com. They have been specializing in delivering fresh $10 t-shirts to the Internet for several years now and have just introduced our girly cut tees. Their tees are made from 100% ringspun cotton so they are super soft and they are printed with a water based screenprint which keeps the t-shirt just as soft as if it wasn’t printed at all.

Just like their tees for men, they are incorporating designs from around the world and exclusively available at TenBills.com. And of course, they’re all $10 each. They put out new designs every week and will now be printing their designs on both the guys and girls tees.

When you get a chance, take a look at TenBills.com.

I don’t know exactly what it is that I enjoy about artist Rob Dobi aka Dobi, but his work, especially the Fullbleed brand puts him into my top five favorite tee designers. As Rob puts it, “Lately my work has been more conceptual as I take everyday events and attempt to juxtapose them in an unconventional manner.” and this is what makes his tees stand out.

Fullbleed started in the summer of 2004 as a side project while Rob was doing freelance design work for bands and flipping burgers. People started following the work he was doing because of the bands he was affiliated with, so he ran with it. Over the past year or so the response has been overwhelming and this side project has turned into Rob’s full-time job.

Rob is also an accomplished photographer and you can see his remarkable photographs of abandoned spaces at NewEnglandRuins.
